Trip i Tesco
Dydd Llun, Ionawr 23 cafodd disgyblion dosbarth Mr Davies gyfle i ymweld ag archfarchnad Tesco ym Mangor, fel rhan o'u hymgyrch Fferm i'r Fforc. Mae dosbarth CA2 wrthi'n astudio sut i greu bara ar hyn o bryd a chawsant gyfle i ddylunio toes a chreu eu bara eu hunain yn ystod yr ymweliad yn ogystal â chael ei goginio yn y popty enfawr yng nghefn y siop.

 

Ymweliad gan Marc Griffiths
Dydd Mercher, 25 Ionawr, daeth Marc Griffiths i Ysgol Rhiwlas i gynnal hyfforddiant i ddisgyblion Yr Adran Iau am sut i ddefnyddio yr offer radio newydd sydd wedi cyrraedd yr ysgol. Bydd y disgyblion yn gallu creu eu rhaglenni radio eu hunain o hyn ymlaen a'u darlledu ar Cymru FM a byddant yno'n fyw i bawb allu eu clywed ar y we. Mae'r disgyblion yn edrych ymlaen yn arw at gael sgriptio eu rhaglenni radio eu hunain a dewis caneuon ar gyfer y darllediadau.

Ffair Lyfrau

Mae Ffair Lyfrau wedi bod yn cael ei chynnal yn neuadd yr ysgol rhwng 7 Tachwedd ac 11 Tachwedd. Diolch i bawb am bob cefnogaeth i'r digwyddiad, roedd yn gyfle gwych i gychwyn meddwl am y Siopa Nadolig.

 

Disgo Calan Gaeaf

Roedd sain cerddoriaeth i'w glywed o dop y pentref nos Fawrth, 1 Tachwedd gan fod disgyblion Ysgol Rhiwlas yn brysur yn dawnsio, ac yn mwynhau eu hunain, yn y disgo Calan Gaeaf.

Ymweliad Colin Diamond

Dydd Gwener, 21 Hydref, cafodd disgyblion yr Ysgol wledd wrth i Colin Diamond ymweld â'r ysgol i gynnal gweithdy drymio ac offer taro. Roedd atsain y samba i'w glywed trwy'r pentref a phawb wedi cael diwrnod cerddorol gwerth chweil.

 

Noson Sinema

Nos Wener, 14 Hydref, cynhaliwyd noson Sinema yn neuadd yr ysgol. Diolch i Gyfeillion Ysgol Rhiwlas am drefnu'r noson. Roedd y neuadd yn llawn a phawb yn mwynhau cŵn poeth, diod, popcorn a melysion, wrth wylio'r ffilm. Charlie a'r Ffatri Siocled oedd y ffilm, i gyd-fynd â'r gwaith mae'r disgyblion wedi bod yn ei wneud ar Roald Dahl a chanmlwyddiant ei eni. Hefyd, er mwyn dilyn thema'r ffilm, roedd gwobr arbennig, ar ffurf tocyn aur, wedi ei guddio gan y Cyfeillion mewn bar o siocled. Llongyfarchiadau mawr iawn i Aaron am ennill a chwarae teg iddo am rannu ei wobr, ar y noson, gyda'i ffrindiau.

Llwyddiant yn Eisteddfod Sir yr Urdd

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i'r Tîm Dawnsio am ddod yn fuddugol yn Eisteddfod Sir yr Urdd yng Nghricieth, nos Fercher 16 Mawrth. Ymlaen i Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yr Urdd yn Sir y Fflint yn awr a phob lwc iddynt.

 

Ymweliad â Mynydd Gwefru

Bu disgyblion yr Adran Iau ar ymweliad â Mynydd Gwefru yn Llanberis, am fore, yn dysgu am sut y cynhyrchir ynni drwy ddefnyddio dwr. Roedd hyn yn yn rhan o'u thema y tymor hwn yn ymwneud ag ynni.

 

Ymweliad Fferm y Foel

Dydd Mawrth - 14 Mawrth cafodd disgyblion y Cyfnod Sylfaen fynd ar drip gyda Mrs Goosey, i Fferm y Foel. Roedd yr haul yn gwenu arnynt a phawb wedi mwynhau eu hunain yn ofnadwy, yn cael bwydo'r anifeiliaid a hyd yn oed cael trip yn nhrelar y tractor a'r beic pedair olwyn.

 

Ymweliad Capel y Ffynnon

Dydd Mercher - 16 Mawrth bu'r Adran Iau ar ymweliad â Chapel y Ffynnon, Bangor. Cawsant wrando ar hanes y Pasg Cyntaf yn cael ei adrodd, a gweld rhai o aelodau'r capel yn actio rhannau o'r hanes, er mwyn dod a'r hanes yn fyw iddynt. Cafodd y disgyblion gyfle i gymryd rhan mewn cystadleuaeth ail ysgrifennu hanes yr Wythnos Olaf a daeth Mr Steffan Job i'r ysgol i feirniadu'r straeon. Llongyfarchiadau i Osian Wyn Rowlands, Blwyddyn 5, am ennill y gystadleuaeth a derbyn wy Pasg siocled fel gwobr.

 

Pencampwriaethau Gymnasteg Gwynedd

Bu grwp o ddisgyblion o'r Adran Iau yn cystadlu ym Mhencampwriaethau Gymnasteg Gwynedd yn ddiweddar. Llongyfarchiadau mawr iddynt ar eu perfformiad graenus.

Sioe Rita Gawr
Ar ddydd Mawrth, 2 Cwefror, bu oll o ddisgyblion yr ysgol ar y bws i Neuadd Ogwen i weld sioe Rita Gawr. Roedd pawb wedi mwynhau'r sioe ac wedi cael cyfle i ddysgu am hanes y cawr lleol oedd yn byw mewn ogof ar y Wyddfa.


Disgo Santes Dwynwen
Yn anffodus gohiriwyd disgo Santes Dwynwen oherwydd y tywydd garw iawn yn Rhiwlas ar y noson. Er hynny, ar nos Fercher, 24 Chwefror, cafodd y disgyblion gyfle i wisgo dillad crand a dawnsio oddi amgylch neuadd yr ysgol, nes bod pawb wedi blino'n lân, ond wedi mwynhau eu hunain yn fawr.


Crefftau Santes Dwynwen
Roedd cariad yn yr aer yn Rhiwlas ar 25 Ionawr oherwydd fod disgyblion y Cyfnod Sylfaen wedi bod yn brysur yn pwyso a mesur fel rhan o'u gwaith mathemateg cyn mynd ati i fesur cynhwysion er mwyn coginio bisgedi siâp calonnau. Thema Fferm Fach (CS)
Fferm fach yw thema Cyfnod Sylfaen ar gyfer y tymor hwn, byddant yn gwneud gwaith ar anifeiliaid fferm a hefyd yn cael cyfle i ddarllen y stori Iar fach goch ymhellach. Click here to see the photos


Thema Ynni (CA 2)
Prynhawn Dydd Mercher, 24 Chwefror, roedd prysurdeb mawr oddi amgylch pentref Rhiwlas gan fod disgyblion Blwyddyn 3, 4, 5 a 6 yn cerdded oddi amgylch y pentref, gyda Mr Davies, yn edrych ar y defnydd o ynni yn y gymuned. Gwaith ar ynni yw eu thema am yr hanner tymor hwn. Fel rhan o'r thema, hefyd, maent wedi cael y cyfle i ymweld â Mynydd Gwefru, Llanberis, ar 2 Mawrth, er mwyn dysgu am rhai o'r generaduron mwyaf pwerus sydd yno ac sy'n helpu i gynhyrchu'r holl ynni.


Sioe Tag S4C
Cafodd disgyblion Blwyddyn 5 a 6 gyfle i fynd i weld Sioe Jambori Tag a oedd wedi ei threfnu, mewn cydweithrediad â S4C a Siarter Iaith Gwynedd, yng Nghanolfan Tennis Arfon. Roedd y disgyblion wedi gwirioni yn cael cyfarfod â rhai o'r cymeriadau, wyneb yn wyneb, megis DJ Sal, Mari Lovegreen ac Owain Williams, cyflwynwyr Sioe Tag.


Ymweliad PC Beca
Bu PC Beca yn ymweld â'r ysgol eto y tymor hwn. Bu'n trafod pwysigrwydd cymryd gofal hefo moddion hefo'r Cyfnod Sylfaen a thrafod effaith cyffuriau ag alcohol ar y corff gyda Cyfnod Allweddol 2. Click here to see the photos


Wythnos RSPB
Mae plant y Cyfnod Sylfaen wedi bod yn brysur yn arsylwi ar yr adar eto eleni ar gyfer ein prosiect blynyddol i gyd fynd â wythnos RSPB. Cafodd y disgyblion gyfle hefyd i greu teisen adar eu hunain i fynd adref. Click here to see the photos

Christmas Dinner
Our thanks to Anti Shan for the delicious Christmas dinner we received at the school at dinner time, Wednesday, December 2. Everybody had a bellyful and felt quite sleepy in the afternoon after eating so much.


Visit to Indian Restaurant, Meghna
FP pupils had an opportunity to taste a variety of Indian foods during their recent visit to the restaurant, the purpose of the visit was to strengthen their thematic work. Everybody hugely enjoyed the experience.


Pantomime
On Wednesday afternoon, December 9, KS2 pupils visited Galeri, Caernarfon to see Dacw Mam yn Dwad.


Christmas Shows
FP pupils gave excellent performances, presenting Christmas around the World and KS 2 pupils presented the story of Scrooge. The school hall was full up for the afternoon and evening performance on Monday December 14 and for the performance on Tuesday night, December 15. Excellent work children, you have all worked extremely hard. Well done.


Books Shop
The book shop held at Ysgol Rhiwlas hall during the first two weeks following the half-term holidays was a huge success, - this formed part of the c^w^l reading fortnight. The pupils and parents had an opportunity to purchase a variety of Welsh and English books. At the end of the fortnight, we had a fun day with all the pupils having an opportunity to dress up as their favourite character from a book.


Gwynedd Library Reading Challenge
Many of the school’s pupils have again achieved success this year in completing the Gwynedd library reading challenge over the Summer holidays. They have paid three visits to the library during the holidays and have been awarded a beautiful medal inscribed with the title breaking all records. Well done children, persevere with the reading.


Children In Need Day
The pupils raised a substantial amount of money for Children In Need this year. The School Council worked extremely hard to organize the activities. There was a café for parents and friends of the school to call in for a cuppa between 10 and 12, all the pupils attended the school dressed up in “Pudsey” theme clothes, Pudsey’s wristbands and ears were on sale at the school on the day and a competition was held to guess Pudsey’s birthday.


Gwynedd Language Charter Gold Award
On Thursday afternoon, November 12, the School Council members went to receive their Language Charter Gold Certificate at a lovely ceremony held at Ysgol Syr Huw Owen at Caernarfon. Almost 200 pupils attended the ceremony, representing all of Arfon Area primary schools. The pupils were entertained by the actress Siwan Llynor narrating stories about Wales superheroes. Congratulations to the School Council on their hard work and to Mrs Goosey for guiding them with the work.

Visit to Dinas Dinlle Airport Museum
On Wednesday morning, October 21, the Junior Department pupils went on a very exciting trip to Dinas Dinlle Airport Museum. Many of the boys eagerly looked forward to the visit. The trip was held in connection with our Second Word War theme. We saw various aeroplanes and equipment used at the time.


Thanksgiving Service, Pisgah Chapel.
On Thursday evening, October 22, all the pupils held a Thanksgiving Service at Pisgah chapel, Rhiwlas. It was pleasing to see so many parents and friends supporting the pupils. The service bore the hallmarks of thorough rehearsals and the pupils sang magnificently. Staff and pupils wish to thank Mrs Einir Wyn Williams for giving of her time to instruct the pupils with the singing and assisting with the preparations for the service.


World Cup Theme Dinner
We were served a special and extremely delicious dinner by Anti Siân to celebrate the rugby world cup. Everybody had a bellyful and enjoyed every minute.


Ysgol Rhiwlas pupils have again, this year, had quite a busy start to the term. Foundation Phase pupils are studying the Elen Benfelen theme and Key Stage 2 pupils are studying Blitz, as a theme, and having an opportunity to learn about the impact of the Second World War on the citizens of Rhiwlas, investigating stories of local aeroplane accidents and the stories of the evacuees who came to the area. If Llais Ogwan readers have any artefacts or stories, that would tie in with this theme, I am sure that the pupils would appreciate seeing/hearing about them.
Pupils and staff wish to congratulate Anti Maggie on becoming a grandmother once again.


Friends of Ysgol Rhiwlas
A successful film night was held at Neuadd Ysgol Rhiwlas, Friday evening - 25 September, arranged by Friends of Ysgol Rhiwlas, and the pupils had an opportunity to watch the film, Boxtrolls, whilst enjoying eating popcorn and sweets.


Disco
On Thursday evening, October 1st, a disco was held at the school hall to raise money towards the school. The pupils and the adults had an opportunity to wear fancy dress and everybody had made an effort and looked very smart. Everybody had great fun dancing and listening to the music.
Thanks to the Friends of the School for fund-raising towards the costs of the climbing wall.


Ysgol Rhiwlas Website
The new Ysgol Rhiwlas website is almost ready for publication. The details will be published in due course. Thanks to the friends for their generous contribution towards creating this website.


Fruits and Vegetables Co-op
The Fruits and Vegetables co-op is still run at the school. The weekly charge is £3 per bag for fresh fruits and vegetables. The money and order must be presented to one of the school staff, before dinner time on Wednesday of every week, and the bag will be ready for collection after lunch on the Friday of each week.


Sponsored Walk
On Wedneday, October 7, 2015 Ysgol Rhiwlas pupils held a sponsored walk, to fund raise towards purchasing an outside Pergola/stage, for the school. Everybody walked along Lon Las Ogwen and we had a wonderful trip, seeing wonders along the way. Everybody wore warm clothing and comfortable footwear for the trip and brought plenty of food and drink.
